What's currently happening in the UAE? This read should provide you some hints of the recent UAE news so keep on reading...
Beginning with Dubai news, the local authority is recently paying attention to merchants known for engaging in illegal liquor trade. Conducted by Khalid Salem Selaiteem, the Environmental Emergency office tries to put a stop to the selling of around 200,000 bottles of illegal alcohol. This is because of the increasing number of crimes that concern illegal businessmen. While this particular business remains attractive because of the big earning potential it has, the escalating competition in this market produces tension, strong enough to tempt a bootlegger to kill his strong opponents. Just this 2011, an Indian bootlegger was put to death sentence after being guilty of burying his top 2 rivals alive in the Dubai desert. Selaiteen and his group are exerting effort to fight off this illicit alcohol issue. The group is sure that they will completely meet such objective by 2012. They also cautioned potential bootleggers who might engage into this kind of market.
On the brighter side of UAE news, Kim Kadarshian, a well-known half-Armenian celebrity, is so excited about her first time in Dubai. She mentioned her fascination for Middle Eastern dishes, and is looking forward to eating the native food there. Kim also expressed her potential plans of opening an establishment there-a new clothing line perhaps? The happnenings on the said tour are going to be shown on her reality TV show, "Keeping Up With The Kadarshians". And that's the recent update for Dubai News.
Going to Abu Dhabi, five people failed to show up in a trial, after being accused of writing blog comments that pose threat to public order. The comments on their blogs also imply their disagreement with the administration and insulting the president. Despite their absence, the hearing went on last October 2. Someone working for the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority allegedly testified about the statements claimed to have been written by the five accused men.
Meanwhile, still in Abu Dhabi, a posh hotel faces lawsuit filed by a woman, claiming that they must be responsible for her accident some time in 2008 while she was checked in at the hotel. The name of the hotel is none other than Emirates Palace, and the woman who accuses is Natalie Smith. According to Smith, something heavy hit her head while she opens the cupboard in the room she stayed in. Due to that incident, the woman suffered post-traumatic epilepsy, a condition that prohibits her to be on her own while crossing the street or when bathing. Thus, she asks a whooping 20 million AED to compensate for her husband leaving their business so he can take care of her. While this case is still on-going, the regional director of Emirates Palace declined to drop any comments on the matter.
