In many instances, after a marriage ceremony is completed, the bridal couple and their guests relax at a reception and a dance. Attendees are treated to appetizers, buffet dinners, champagne, and punch. However, few receptions are considered to be finished without the bride and groom cutting their cake. With today's nuptial market expanding in trends and options, various styles of wedding cakes can now be considered for their event.

A bride generally wants a cake that will reflect her personal style. A woman who is feminine and a traditionalist might choose one that features several layers of white frosting, roses, and various decorations. She does not usually want any other color than white or cream. Her cake will usually have round layers rather than squares or some other shape. A baker for this kind of bride typically adheres to tradition rather than trendy baking and decoration methods.

Trendier brides might want to try a new style or color for her cake. Many bakeries are now able to bake layers into squares, triangles, and other shapes. When they stack the dessert, it creates a geometric tower that has not been a part of receptions until recently. Moreover, a woman may want to include different colors, such as dark reds, purples, browns, and neon shades of blue. She wants her cake to be memorable to both her and her guests.

Most of these designs are topped by figurine toppers. Established toppers include a traditional pose of a figurine bride and groom that stands solemnly on top of the cake. The bridal figure wears a white dress while her groom figure wears a black tuxedo. The figures still have a place in low-key celebrations today or those that adhere to tradition. Many couples can purchase them at stores that sell such items.

When couples want their occasion to be humorous and more laid back, they might choose a topper that is more whimsical. For example, they might select one that shows a bride pulling her groom by the collar toward the church to get married. It might also show the groom holding a fishing pole and posing with his new wife. This signifies that he caught a good wife.

After the design is decided upon, couples will then be asked to choose a flavor. Successful flavors include vanilla or butter golden flavors. Bakers can prepare these with relative ease and do not need much notification for such a cake. Couples who want specialty flavors often need to put in more advanced notice for their order. These specialized flavors include citrus, banana, coffee, red velvet, and various types of chocolate.

Once the pastry is completed, the baker will deliver it to the function's location. Because it may include layers, it generally is transported disassembled and put together at the reception venue. This prevents it from falling and smashing into pieces.

Most brides and grooms choose memorable Toronto Weddings for their special occasions. Along with deciding the style, they also have to decide the flavor and what kind of topping they want on top of it.
